Latest "Bundle"

Ok Guys,

I just received a job lot of Tomica/Thomas stuff that I won in an auction, pretty good haul for the small amount paid, sure all played with, but all still functional for the most part. I won't get into the list of track, buildings, etc... here's the highlights in terms of the loco's included in the bundle along with a couple I could do with some help identifiying if you can Smile

First is a bullet train (it came with a carriage and trailer too, dual speed), it is however missing its connecting hook - anyone know where I can get spares?!?

Next up is a Thomas item - I presume the loco is called 'Salty' as per the logo on the side?

Non-Thomas (D52 Steam?!?), complete and working including a light on the front;

Another Thomas item, no idea of the name of this loco so if you can name him for me?

Bit of an oddity this one, it is what looks like a goods cart or similar, but it is motorised, no sign of it being Thomas, but it does have Tomy on the base, any idea what it is or what it goes with?

There were also a pair of fully working Thomas engines, but I don't see the point of posting pictures of those as I'm sure you've seen/got more than you need lol! There were also a bunch of carriages/trucks, mostly Thomas types, but a few 'normal' ones also.

Cheers, Nigel
the green works van is the drive unit for Harvey
Very nice lot indeed. Tootally Thomas is correct about the motorized coach being from Harveys set. The Red LMS train is "Arthur". You can get replacement hooks/couplers on Ebay. Not sure if there is a seller in the UK but here is where I get mine in the US including black ones and ships world wide http://www.ebay.com/sch/smichonmoldmaker...1543.l2654

Thanks for the info guys, I expect if I pick up any more bundles I'll almost certainly be calling on your expertise for identification purposes or at least until I get up to speed Smile

Makes you wonder if an 'app' is called for to provide an engine database or something, assuming there's not one out there already!

I just noticed something interesting, the green van I have although obviously the same as the one in your picture has a black roof as opposed to the same green colour as the sides. Does this make any difference or was it an earlier/later incarnation? More to the point should I touch up the scratch on the roof or leave it as is if it is unusual? Questions, questions lol Smile

My mistake, I showed you a picture of the Trackmaster Harvey with green roof, the Tomy T-16 release of Harvey has a black roof. Tomy also release a 3 unit set, TS-14, with a yellow powered coach like your green one.
Replacement couplings from Hong Kong here. Cheaper than buying from UK sources.

They also sell replacement rubber tyres for the drive wheels, I've had excellent service from this seller.

The green coach is called a Works Coach. It's based on the coach that operates with a pair of cranes and flat-beds to make up the Breakdown Train in the Thomas books and TV series, for example look for the story 'Thomas and the Breakdown Train' where James is de-railed and lifted back onto the track by them.

The Tomy version of these cranes is green and came with the diesel Mavis.

The Breakdown Train was largely replaced by Rocky for a long time, but has returned in a retelling of this story in the special 'The Adventure Begins', with both cranes gaining faces and being named Jerome and Judy.

if you don't want to buy spare coupling, just scrap extra rolling stock vehicles or broken trackmaster engines. I strip the coupling off the rolling stock vehicles for part.

Wow thanks for the background, I of course did read these books when I was a nipper, but at my age its difficult to recall what was what and who was who now Smile

This is something I've been considering, but until I get some spare rolling stock its not yet an option Smile

go to the charity shops. You may be able to score some there. Make sure you buy the old style rolling stocks unless you have a triangle screw driver.
