I think the large set you saw was the deluxe talking set which is basically the Day out on Sodor set plus these two pieces . The other sets ie Mad Dash on Sodor and thE Talking set have trucks but not with 3d faces

Thanks Rekp

The 2 3D faces do look somewhat different...just a little.

Super, the only photo i have is this.  This photo came from the "All Around Sodor Deluxe Set"

from the photos posted above, it seems the face slide into the truck body (seeing how a portion of the face is tucked inside the truck).  it would be interesting to see how it turns out.  I hope they have sets only come with the trucks only.  I am a big fan of troublesome truck btw haha.

Well there may be at least one more face on that Lime Green Truck.

EDIT: Never mind, NOT THE SAME SET. The Thomas and Percy were the same as this set so I thought it was the same. Sorry Undecided

What I like about these new Sodor sets is that they aren’t the “big gimmick” things we’ve seen in recent years. The Sky High Bridge Jump and Super Station were huge and impressive but they take up tons of space. In the case of the bridge (and the earlier shipwreck set), you have a bunch of huge pieces to store and the sets end up being kinda “one trick ponies”. The use of multiple and small destinations means it’s easier to store and even easier to expand. I also appreciate the return to the dark gray track color. Again though, if Mattel/FP is going with the big, expandable starter set concept, I hope they’ll consider another production run of Track Pack expansion sets. The last run was nearly impossible to find at retail because of the closing of TRU and the reluctance of retailers like Walmart to carry them.

Yes!!
I would hope that the corporate meeting went something like this:
Our sales are down.
We strayed the formula and these circus sets were a flop...
Bob, Shelia...YOU'RE FIRED!!!
I’ve called back Stan Johnson out of retirement (2012) to try and revive the line and bring it back to its traditional values and glory.
Hopefully we are able to reverse our current product image and salvage this franchise to regain our standing in the market place soon.
Thank you........NOW GET TO WORK!!!!
Play nice & have fun!!Smile

Man, I swear every time I go to a thrift store I see someone's donated one of those giant useless trick pieces... One time I saw three at the same place! I'm betting they'll sit there for years

Regardless, I do like the direction the new sets and 3D faces are going, even though I'm not particularly interested in collecting Trackmaster 2/Motorized
I have a website where I have been writing about and photographing many of the sets and pieces that I find interesting.
