TandH was able to fit the shell of a 2009 Gordon on a TOMY chassis, so it can be done. In addition to "restoring" the paint, the plastic itself would be stronger since a faded one eventually becomes brittle; even if you repaint it. Hydrogen peroxide (ironically) also requires sunlight to work, meaning it will actually speed up the cracking/breaking process.

For the triangle screws, a small flat screwdriver/hex key should be able to move them if it fits.
