Fellow scratchbuilder BumBin Creative, who originally used speed control dials built into their locos, found this interesting way to upgrade to RC that could also work for Plarail/other existing battery trains. Like Mr. Motorman, this module operates on RF with different speeds (sadly not in both directions) and the transmitter and receiver have to be "paired" before use. Unlike it, the controls look to be more responsive and can apparently be programmed using the three-button "car door" transmitter. Rather than doubling as a battery, the receiver is a separate board with two input and two output wires and can work at a voltage of up to 24V (!).

Even though the rolling stock they build is Gauge 1, the receiver is even more compact than what HiT Toys and FP used for their RC engines. If anyone here buys it, I'd like to know how it compares to Mr. M, MaBeee or dedicated releases.
