Indeed he might. I've had a few of these and they're always a bit iffy, even without cracked gears.  Wait a bit and I'll strip one down to show you.

Before you do that, Im already opening it up as we speak and I immediately found two cracked gears. You're definitely right about them not being solid since I didn't do much to this toy to make this happen. I'll send a photo 




It's there anything else I would need to know though about this set? I would like to know your insight.
