Wow those tires look super grippy with the grooves that should turn those tumblers really well. Strange that it will work with your fingers but not with the tires. Try this for kicks...take one of your Plarail engines and see if it turns those tumblers.

And for my fingers, that's because I'm constantly releasing my finger grip to roll some more which sometimes helps the trapped gear move
