This rail is available in many AEG sets (now it is silver for the first time). According to Mattel, it makes it easier for children to place the train on the track.
As for the track pack, I think it's a good idea to include it in the offer. But I have a few remarks regarding this track pack:
- There could have been more than 4 straight rails (that is 5, counting that "special" train placing rail), because the earlier AEG sets contain very few or none at all.
- Proposed layout no. 2 is bad, because once you turn the train on any of the loops and thus change its direction of movement, you bring it into the direction of the "infinite loop", because it is no longer possible to enter any of the loops to change direction again.
- The gray hill (portal?) with the tunnel contains an intersection at the top, but it is on the 4th level (it takes 4 ascending rails to get to the top and 4 to descend). You don't get enough up/down rails in the set to connect the crossing at the top from all four directions. Of course it can be connected to the rails that the customer already has, but it would be nice if the set was fully functional with what comes with it.
By the way, if anyone is interested, the set should be released on June 13, 2023.
