Now I looked at new hopper cars. The blue one comes with Push Along Thomas and Sodor Take Along Set (so I guess we could call it Push Along Hopper Car). The green one comes with motorized Whiff. And we can see the differences:
Despite the differences in the track clearance with the black part under the chassis, both cars are running fine and they can be pulled by motorized engines without problems.
My main complaint about new wagons (and tenders!) in general is that they are mostly made without cogs. This is bad, because they are light, so they dance and can derail, especially on AL and AR curved slope tracks.
