The Most Awesome Layout

Well I have been doing a little bit of experimenting with painting track with no luck. Found matched colors to the light gray tracks. First I tried a paint by Krylon that is supposed to be used for plastic and especially for plastic outdoor furniture which was a total failure. Didn't cover too well and cracked and peeled off when snapping it into another track. Tried the good Tamiya modelers paint for aircraft with a flat clear coat over top and it covered perfectly and initially looked great in the layout with no cracking. Looked good and trains ran smoothly over it and I thought I had it until I unsnapped the piece of track from the layout resulting in some (not like the Krylon) cracking and peeling at the coupling. Will try to experiment a little more with the Tamiya but that paint is expensive. The layout builder above mentions on his web page that his experimenting with paint resulted in him using Revells spray paint. With all the painting he did he must have spent a lot on paint.

Hmmm...wonder if having a thread dedicated to painting in the Modifications Forum would be a good place to exchange ideas and get others who have experimented a chance to share what they have done. [Image: ummm-smiley-emoticon.gif]
