I think his face looks great. Keep in mind, it's All Engines Go! Only noses are highlighted, everything else is drawn. It's a cartoon, you see. Someone really used a pencil and draw it. That's the way it should be!
 

I guess I am picky but i dislike the fact that crank is on top of a raised platform.  otherwise the set is alright.

I guess you are right: you are picky! Tomorrow, Cranky could be somewhere else, or the whole set will be changed. You never know. That's the advantage and the beauty of this kind of layouts!
