It was a bit more than I would have liked to pay, but it is such a special model and possibly one of the most detailed 'N' gauge I've seen to date I had to get it. The price was $170 from Amazon.com (which once shipping and VAT were added pushed the price up a bit as well). But this is in comparison to the UK price which I've seen goes at around £250!!! So depending upon your view it is either very expensive or a bargain lol!
PlaRail is great, have you ever looked at the now defunct PlaRail Advance? You can still pick up models on the 2nd hand market, although the prices are beginning to rise quite dramatically for certain components. But the big advantage is that you can run PlaRail Advance on the standard PlaRail blue tracks, so if you got a layout the only outlay is for the rolling stock to get into it.
Oh yes for sure, including the tender it is less than 6" in length, but what a beautiful model I'm looking forward to its first test run
