Unlike most other official trains, the Powered Up battery box and motor are preinstalled (the loco is tender driven). Powered Up is slightly easier to incorporate than Power Functions because the receiver isn't its own separate part (which left some motorised MOCs with problems like engines with no room for minifigs).
