There was a major tentpole release this year. It was the Cave Collapse Set for Digs and Discoveries. The major difference this year from previous years was that there was no 60 minute movie, but a DVD with two 20 minute episodes.

Sadly, Mattel wouldn't want to give up being the primary Thomas toy licensee for their Fisher-Price ranges and give another company like Tomy that position. They've got no one else telling them what they can't do anymore.
