My poor, sad Christmas layout. It looked a lot cooler in my mind’s eye than it actually turned out. You can also see the large swirled area where our cat, Thunderhead likes to lay. She’s the reason I decided not to use many scenic elements like trees and street lamps.

We’re leaving the decorations up until Twelfth Night this year, partly because we put them up later and partly because it conveniently falls on a Sunday. After the decorations come down and the first King Cake is eaten, the layout will hopefully transition into a semi-permanent “live scenery” area for trains to run.
