insurance will cover the damage. The burning question is will there be cutback in service due to lack of spare trains available? We all know how punctual jJpanense railways are.
Toronto had a major flooding a year or two years ago. The flooding was so severe that it almost flooded half of the section beneath railway tracks. Two streetcars operators warned the supervisor that they may not be able to pass through that section. The supervisor overrode the two operators' concern. So they proceed and broke down immediately. The flood water level kept on going up to the point it swallowed the streetcars. Luckiily all passengers were able to evacuate and nobody was hurt. I can't say that for the two streetcars. The flood essentially destroyed the streetcars. They were sent back to the manufacturer (Bombardier) for a complete rebuilt. After that incident. A memo was sent out to all operators (including bus drivers) not to proceed if they see too much flooding.
