yes, 6 d size go in a compartment under the seat. the seat flips up, and then theres a slide cover for the batteries. no screw etc to keep them from being removed by small fingers. the area under the seat is designed for storage for kids to use, so things like keys, the tv remotes, reading glasses etc.
i bought some tent pegs today to stake the track into place when on the lawn at the club. these will be kept under the seat when not in use.
