Branded!

Does anyone know if this was modeled after a real Japan Monorail or is it completely fictitious?

Curiously, the large island outline is an exact match for Hawaii, but the two smaller islands to the south-east don't exist there.

 

I'd appreciate any additional info about this item. When was it released? Was it a special and/or event item?

And was 'Plarail Connect Town' a thing, or just a random assortment of words pasted onto this monorail (and the yellow 'construction' one with the dozer blade on the front - which surely has to be fictional?)
