I totally agree with you guys, when the first mini's hit the market I figured they were pretty expensive for blind bags, but at least they felt quality. So when the removed the weights in 2017 and the bodies 'fit' seemed to go west as well I just stopped collecting after buying some of the first wave. To be honest I've only got back into them after doing some 'finding' to help Sunhuntin fill some holes in the collection and seeing some of the new liveries just couldn't resist. But it still wrankles as when they took the weights out they had also put the price up (at least they did in the UK).
One thing I'm going to look at is getting some after market weights and fit them myself, I know they can be got as I bought some intended for HO/OO gauge trains to go in some full size PlaRail trains that needed a bit of extra weight. They were not too expensive either, I just need to source the correct size for a mini
@Pablo if you could get some of the cars for me I'd be very grateful, I'll have to PM you what it is I'm after. I appreciate the postage costs will be quite high relatively speaking, but to get models I just either can't get or have to pay extortionate prices for on eBay in the UK it would be worth it
The curious thing is with the cars is, I don't know if you are aware, but the weight of the models is not down to internal weights like the thomas minis, its because the body shells are actually metal so they are more like a mini hot wheels car. I have heard some people complain about it as they reckon the paint flakes too easily, but I can't say I've had any problems like that with mine

Happily collecting things all my life...
