Ah, yeah that does appear to be a bit different than before.  This could be possibly some ting with a resistor or the motor, but please try new batteries first.  The batteries look to be cheaper ones that I have used before and they drain really quickly.  I have had it where it will have enough power to make sounds but not power the engine.

Moving the wheels manually while it is in the on position will cause the gear to break!
