Unfortunately not, Bachmann went down the route of making them durable rather than detailed and have used what looks like new tooling rather than re-use their existing loco designs modified for Thomas characters.
The plus side is they are durable and therefore should last longer without any major damage in 'small hands', but the downside is that they are very poorly detailed and look more like toys than models - you might even say closer to the PlaRail designs
But with the demise of the Hornby line and the fact that Hornby have just never made some of the characters these are better than nothing.
I suppose the only problem I may have is that I now have a mixture of OO and HO versions of the various characters so size can for once be important
