Western Steamer - Repairs

We are getting closer.. . After almost 3 weeks since I ordered them, another gear replacement has arrived. This one is the flat “normal” gear. I say normal as the others are a bit different in their shapes. This one I had ordered and it was too big. I went for two different listings this time to be sure it was going to be a match. While it is not identical, it is very close. The difference being the center extrusion. On the (white) original both sides are close to being flat. With the replacements, the first (the one in the middle) it has a small raised portion “extrusion” on it. The other (on the right) has a larger one. These could be trimmed to fit but I did a test and they seem to fit fine as is, at least the middle one does.


I also sought out some replacement axles. I found these which are a perfect fit in diameter. As you can see they are longer by 2-3 times but I wanted to be able to trim them if needed vs having them too short. As mentioned earlier I may be able to make up some replacement gear sets for these so swapping them out could be easy by not having to get the placement right, etc... it would just be a swap of the old for the new.

One more gear to arrive, and test Muddy... .
