Wow, that’s a surprisingly difficult question for me to answer! I notice that Takara Tomy generally prefers engines that are currently or recently in service, so that potentially eliminates a number of cosmetically restored/maintained locomotives on display but not operational. A couple of operational engines that come to my mind are C11-171 and C58-239 SL Ginga but they’ve both been the subject of regular releases in recent years.
But what the heck, a guy can dream, right? With that in mind, here are my suggestions for a potential 60th Anniversary release.
-A new, locomotive driven C57.
-A detailed plastic version of the C53 streamliner.
-An Asia Express Pashina class streamliner. Potentially too controversial because of it use on the Japanese Manchukuo/Manchuria Railroad but in my opinion, one of the most beautiful steam locomotive designs built by Japan.
