I used some of Ebay and some Amazon, but do you have any tips of other websites that might be good for finding some more "uncommon" items?

You say "uncommon items" what might you be referring to. In the States Ebay and Amazon are about the only places to buy and that includes items from outside the country. But if by 'uncommon" you mean rare or hard to find items you would probably have to use a Buying Agent (middle man) to buy from the Yahoo Auctions in Japan.
