Talk n Action have a distinct coupler on them which is the easiest way to tell, but the other sign is the on the bottom they have an activation mechinisim. They use the short green pieces of track. You mention D10 which is a Japanese accent, there was rumor of an American accent I believe but never has been found to my knowledge.
Regarding the train you are looking at/ trains to decide on. You don't have to give a link or any other info on it, but is it for sale directly from someone you know or is it on an auction site, etc.. even if you can get it broken for a decent price it is likely fixable.
