Is it at a store or something or did you already purchase it? They routinely sell on the Japan auctions for close to 6,000¥ and for broken ones sometimes 4,000¥ or more. I agree if you can get it for a good price you should go for it. If you have not already try and get some pictures of the battery terminals, as they tend to be heavily corroded. These take a special battery terminal that you can not easily find to replace. Believe me I have looked everywhere and am working with a source in China still to try and acquire them. Sometimes though if not too far gone distilled vinigar will clean them up. The wires though can be damaged by the corrosion and need replaced. I typically will go ahead and replace the wires if there is heavy corrosion.

Aside from that I have not really had motor issues with D10 specifically, but not to say that could be in an issue. Stripped axel gears are pretty common and these take a smaller width gear that is not a common size. Other than circuit issues the most difficult thing I have ran across (which has been with TnA Thomas and Percy) has been replacing the activation mechinisim. It can be a real pain.

Difficulty wise compared to the flip face trains this one is quite a bit more difficult. I do find the flip face ines sometimes troubling though too. Especially Lost and Found Hiro.
