The graphics on the computer game seem to be using all that modern day processing power to produce a simulation of an old ZX Spectrum in terms of graphics. The games also seem similarly 'retro' and primitive in the extreme. Maybe I'm just missing the point, or having been around when 'retro' gaming was cutting edge I've just had my fill of it already lol!
Minecraft is about creating things, not just responding to the game, so I think of it more as this generation's BASIC. When I see those big fuzzy blocks I'm not comparing them in my head to Escape from Castle Wolfenstein (one of my own formative gaming experiences) but:
10 PRINT "Hello World"
20 GOTO 10
and in that sense it's a pretty big step up!
Oh and to stay on topic, I got myself the Minis Advent Calendar, so about a dozen new tiny trains over the course of the month. It was fun to spread them out over the whole month, even if I knew which one was coming each day
