dunno - i'm in the uk, oxford, right in the middle. is the original better? surely not.

clever the way you worked the layout, best that I've seen yet. trees give a good contrast to all the track/trains, makes things balanced.

also that broad weave carpet was good for keeping things from slipping about, I noticed how stable the elevated sections were. Love the cab view!
