Thanks for the information Plarnold. I take it that you have rode on this train. So I am guessing this train is somewhat a new Tomy release maybe not in Japan but in Taiwan?
I haven't had a chance to ride this specific one. I've only been on a similar type of train on a different line.
Yes, this is a Taiwan only release. It has been quite a while though.

Thanks Plarnold
I like these country specific releases. Maybe if Tomy has more time they can span out their line with some other country's of the world exclusive released trains.
They only do country specific designs for countries Plarail is sold in.
The more time I was referring to was if they could no linger produce the Thomas line. I am not an expert but I would think that the Japanese market might take to a limited release of say an Amtrak train or something other than their own trains. Or if it costs Plarail too much for the rights to the common livery's then a generic one with an original color scheme. Wouldn't you think it would be worth a try in their existing markets to give it a try on a limited release say one or two a year from different country's? But maybe one of the reasons they don't is the rights issue. I know that the Tomica division in the US released the 3 American F-Units wasn't their a Tomica UK? Did they release any British trains? How about the two French TGV's? Did they also have a division their at one time? Besides Taiwan, Thailand, China and Japan has any division of Tomy put out a train from another country? My old mind can't recall off the top of my head.
Hong Kong has custom designs.

yes between plarnold and the countries you listed Super, you have named them all, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Europe (French TGV's, Eurostar and Virgin), U.S.
But like I have said before why would they release random trains of other countries in Japan where there are a wealth of trains to produce that they know and love, we have argued this before Tomy making trains of countries it does not directly sell toys too will most likely never happen and it makes perfect sense, if you want trains specific to a certain country there are models available to you just not Tomy made. I feel if you aren't into Japanese trains don't get into to Tomy because that is what they make pure and simple.
