Thanks for the help. So there may not be a list to help me? What about a list of known Trackmaster trains that Tomy never made. Would there be such a list? What I would like to do is not buy a character from Trackmaster if Tomy has one. I am only interested in the basic character trains, no color variations, no talking, nothing different, Just want to amass one of each. And are there lists of the harder to find Tomy characters?
Howdy Super!
Well, I can confirm that TOMY USA manufactured the following characters:
Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Duck, Mavis, Salty, Molly, Neville, Murdoch, Dennis, Harvey, Skarloey, Rusty, Stepney, and a motorized Terence from the "Thomas at the Lumber Yard" set.
TAKARA TOMY Plarail has manufactured the following(ones with the * indicate they are no longer produced, and have been discontinued; ** means enhanced detail):
Thomas**, Edward**, Henry**, Gordon**, James**, Percy**, Toby, Duck*, Donald*, Douglas*, Oliver*, Diesel*, Diesel 10, Splatter and Dodge**, Molly*, Neville*, Dennis*, BoCo*, Ben*, Lady*, Salty*, Harvey, Arthur*, Murdoch*, Spencer, Emily, Skarloey*, Sir Handel*, Rusty*, Duncan*, Rocky(motorized)*, Fearless Freddie*, Victor*(being discontinued in his red livery for Gator and Marion), Belle, Flynn, Luke, Hiro, Stanley(I'm not too sure of his current manufacturing status), Mighty Mac*, Connor, Caitlin, Stephen, Gator(non-motorized Marion included), Bash*, and Dash*.
As for TrackMaster engines that the TAKARA TOMY Plarail/TOMY USA Company never made:
HiT Toys manufactured and circulated new engines, both already in production and new(new is marked with one *, circulated and already manufactured outside the USA marked with two **):
Iron 'Arry*, Iron Bert*, Peter Sam*, Rheneas*, Duke*, Bertram*, Hank*, Douglas**, Flora*, Billy*, Whiff*, Rocky(facing different direction compared to Plarail motorized release)**
Then, Fisher-Price came along in 2010 and went bonanzas chunking out different variations of engines(e.g., flat-type drive units replacing older, bulkier ones) and manufactured all these new characters, which have also been manufactured by Plarail(model names with one * indicates F.P. only; two ** indicates both F.P. & Plarail manufactured release):
Bash**, Dash**, Ferdinand*, Den*, Dart*, Belle**, Flynn**, Paxton*, Luke**, Connor**, Caitlin**, Stephen**, Gator**, Timothy*, Rocky(F.P. has darker gray roof colour; no difference between F.P. & HiT Toys variation)**, Porter*, Stafford*, and Glynn*
As for a list of rarities, the most rare of these are the following:
HiT Toys Hank, The Scottish twins(either Plarail, HiT, or F.P.), C-Cell Iron Twins, Flora, Billy, Whiff, Den(with orange side rods), F.P. Porter, Oliver(HiT Toys or Plarail variation; no differences between either engine or accompanying coaches), Rocky(Plarail is the hardest to come by/this variation was also known as "Motor Road and Rail"; F.P. and HiT Toys variation also rare; only differences between F.P. and HiT Toys the gray colour on roof and running plates), Molly, Neville, Dennis, Duck, Lady, Splatter, Dodge, and any of the HiT Toys motorized vehicles, which are Jack, Alfie, Ned, Madge, Terence, Caroline, Bulgy("Motor Road and Rail" released him in both red and green; green is somewhat rare, but rarest of the two is red), Bertie, and Elizabeth.
That's a lot to crunch, @"Super", but if you need any more help, please don't hesitate to let me know!
