Using The New Trackmasters: UPDATED

Having an open mind and going against my better judgement, today I picked up 2014 Tale Of The Brave Timothy! I'll be honest I really didn't think I was gonna like this engine from its photos and reviews but now that I see it I must say the engine actually does look okay! Though it's appearance may seem okay there was some work to be done for it to actually be really useful. First I got rid if the flimsy and really....really bad couplers on the cars and replaced them with couplers that actually work and don't bend. This couldn't be done on Timothy as opening up that specific engine is a pain but I'll keep trying.

Also (as shown and done by Ucwepn) you may have to add weight to the engine. Timothy actually performs okay and dosent really get stuck as much on turnouts but on train requiremented accessories it can be troublesome. Adding weight should help this problem and help it on hills.
Doing these should keep them going okay on your layout but problems may still occur. I you are willing to do this, Timothy is not a bad pick up. He may be large but I like his look and he does actually go pretty fast! Trust me I still hate the new line but Timothy seems alright. I will be getting the Scared James for it's face and car as well soon.
So if you want to do that, Timothy as most redesigned engines are okay.

.......

But I still hate them.
Here is the full pack now with the white couplers! Personally I like them a lot better than those new flimsy silver ones, and now Timothy runs better and his cars don't pull off the engine.I was Fianally able to open Timothy but upon doing so his inards started to move so a lot of work was put to just putting it back together but it was worth it! Now the set looks pretty good!
Timothy actually looks ok and I actually can stand having him in my layout. Well...good for a redisign I guess.

Well maybe better.......

Nah. Still hate em.

How do you add the weights to an engine? I have a Tomy Gordon 2001 and the weights went missing. How do you add weights to Gordon?
Gordon has them over the front wheels and in the smokebox in front of the drive unit. The drive unit has 2 (I think) weights also.

Check out this thread that has pictures and details of Powerful Gordons weights and an explanation of what is in the regular Gordon. Its very well done...

@"supersheldonbros" If you steal the weights from a thomas (example) you could put them in your gordon if he needs them.
