2024-08-04 update
Got a couple of things to talk about this time!



Timothy:

So, now Timothy is completely painted up! All he's missing is a face and a clearcoat and then he's ready to roll.
Didn't fully model timothy 1:1 to his show design and took some creative liberties (mainly since I really didn't want to do some of the shaping and I just wanted to get him done and over with so I could work on something else but there he is. I'll send another update on him in a couple weeks whenever I finally get around to getting his face done.

Samson:

- So, Samson took a little bit longer to tackle and that was 100% due to the battery acid that I had to clean off. I hate a burning hatred for the smell of battery acid and the stigma it leaves behind for me it's one of my least favorite things in the world, right up next to david zaslav.
- SO after cleaning out everything, I went in and cut the roof of the cab off, accidentally taking one of the screw stems with it, but it's okay since the other three are actually in use this time unlike timothy's one in the same spot in the cab!
- Now after that, I didn't feel like cutting the original Ben saddle tank down since that was too much effort for me, so I went and designed a new top piece in TinkerCAD, accidentally miscalculated where the screwhole had to go so it's up too far, Not reprinting it though because I really don't feel like sanding it down again and removing the already glued pieces ontop, that and it's a solid enough fit.
- After printing everything and gluing the 4 separately fitted pieces down, I chopped off my old TWR Samson's face, granted the Samson was in pretty good condition and i could've casted it. BUT
-- 1: I don't care enough I just wanted to give him a face already.
-- 2: It's not like that TWR Samson was gonna get used at all otherwise, he was just sitting there gathering dust in a box with TWR 2015 Culdee.

Bradford:

Now all he's missing is a face! I've got one designed up from when I did Henrietta's face couple years back, just have to print it out. Might go in and actually remaster the face though since it's honestly not the best and it could match the style a lot better.

For those who want to know as per usual, paints used are as follows
Tamiya:
- Grey or Light Grey Primer, idk I left my can outside and I don't feel like checking it right now

Apple Barrel:
- Lime Tree (matte)
- Cardinal Crimson (matte)
- White (matte)
- Arbor Green (matte)
- Pewter Grey (matte)

FolkArt:
- Metallic Rose Gold (i will always love metallic rose gold over the regular gold)

Thanks! Although I doubt some of the methods I use would pass the safety requirements, some of them would probably have to go for a final mass-retail release!

2024-09-08 Update

Samson:


- Sat down on Friday for a couple of hours and worked on him.
- Cut the entire front box acting as a wheelarch off to replace it with a curved wheelarch, and carved the rear wheelarch to make it curved.
- Added the rear stepladders where the dip in the footplate was at the cab.
- Used some styrene sheets to attempt to flatten out the back of the cab.
- Coated the cab section in filler putty and primed everything.

Paints List:
- Apple Barrel Green Turquoise
- Apple Barrel Turquoise
- Apple Barrel Black
- Apple Barrel Cardinal Crimson
- Apple Barrel Granite Grey
- FolkArt Metallic Pure Gold

- Samson's main body color is a mix of a lot of Green Turquoise, 2-3 drops of Turquoise to give it a blue tint, and 4-5 drops of Black to slightly grey out the paint.
- Everything's painted by hand, the only bits of masking tape used were for the handrail across the boiler, and the black part of the nameplate + the gold.
- He still runs and everything.
