The New 3D Printing Thread

Chris,

Reading between the lines and looking at the photo's I think the idea was to produce a better quality shell than the standard FP/Tomy ones. Lets face it with the former that would not be very difficult lol!

But I agree, what is the point, if they were made to go on HO/OO chassis then I could see it being more sensible and a potentially bigger market. But then of course you would have to targets specific donor chassis as there are so many different models out there.

Overall though I agree, what are you gaining? At the end of the day if you collect PlaRail you want original PlaRail I would say, if you want better quality or detail then you move up to Hornby or Bachmann or Tomix if in Japan or able to buy from Japan.

What I would love to see is Hornby get a licence to make them in the new TT:120 format, I reckon they would be a great hit if they could negotiate a contract that doesn't make them too darn expensive...

So these are for printed shells and not the files to print them yourself?
They are the shells themselves

Probably for those I'll be using a Plarail 2018 Percy chassis for each of them.

I created a new twitter, It's linked here: https://twitter.com/TB90Prod2

trainboy is not running the site its magicjayroadfilms who is a Thomas YouTuber. in the subject of 3D printing I printed some Patrick's ladder at the back and will show pictures my big brother who is knowledgeable of 3D printing did it for me if you want the ladders for your Patrick please dm with the subject 'Patrick' and may try and get the files and give them to you to print. I might do nelsons back truck and ask him to measure the back truck and all. and I might do the modelling for the truck basics who knows I am interested as I 3D model in Roblox so if I am with him I might ask him to work with me n all.
I liked tomy ever since I found out about it

Thanks for the offer, but these days I've moved away from Thomas/PlaRail for the most part and specialise in various gauges of scale model trains instead.

Although I'm sure you're likely to have plenty of other takers here Smile

I'm not the one running the site.

I'll be buying a couple of Percys or Nias (Since they use the same chassis) as chassis donors (If it's Nia, I may keep 1 as is) off of Amazon Japan if that's the case one of those days. I'l already going to buy some body shells for customs.

I would love to have an offer for 3D Printing, I'm however very busy with other aspects of my life but I still chime in. I still do Thomas/PlaRail because it's cheaper than scale model trains in my opinion.

I feel like that someday, someone should 3D Print siderods about the size of Edward's.

All you need to do is modify the easily available STL file for a standard siderod by shortening the length of the shaft. Job done.

Nobody has already done that??? I would have thought Edward's and Oliver's siderods would have been a priority a while ago in the Plarail 3D Print world.
