Sorry to bump this thread, I found out that some did a trackmaster body shell of a Hunslet Austerity/J94. I may be getting a couple of them at some point.

Here's the link to the model on thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5337948

Interesting, anxious to see what you will do with yours T-Boy 😃
I just ordered a 3D Printer which is a Sculpto PRO2 3D Printer shown below:

The first thing I want to 3D Print is the Trackmaster (flat drive unit) Hunslet Austerity shell whoch then I will make Wilbert like the ones shown here:

I guess I'll be welcomed to the world of 3D Printing by the time it arrives.

Firstly of course welcome to the world of 3D printing, although I'm surprised at your choice of printer. That model would have me concerned for several reasons looking at it, do you have a link to the product page as I'm curious what features it has and how much you paid. Although I don't like to interfere with other peoples choices I wouldn't want you to be disappointed by results and be put off the hobby if I can give you a steer to a better alternative...

I paid $74.00 for it (it was originally $128.00 as it going to be put out pf production for future products)

It's supposedly 7.5 Inches x 7.5 Inches

Its an interesting design, but I think you're going to find it very limiting in use.

The build size will probably become an issue, when it says 7,9" that is across a circle, as soon as you have something that is oblong you won't be able to print that full distance across the bed as otherwise some of the print would be hanging over the bed if you follow me. On the subject of the bed it doesn't say if the bed is heated, do you know if it is? If not you may well experience issues getting the filament to adhere to the bed, this is a common issue sometimes even with printers with heated beds if they are not levelled correctly. Incidentally levlling is a term that refers to the distance of the print head above the bed being a consistent height (i.e. the bed is level in respect to the print head wherever it is above the bed. This one doesn't seem to have any levelling facility so I assume it does something automatically. It may have something to do with where it says it rotates the bed rather than moving the head, its a design I've never seen before.

I also note that it will only print PLA materials, not necessarily a deal breaker, but it does limit what filaments you can use so things like ABS, TPU etc... will not be usable. You will also be careful to avoid PLA+ filaments as they often are a hybrid mix of PLA and ABS etc... which gives them better properties than standard PLA, but at the same time typically need higher temperatures and are generally more difficult to work with.

In terms of manufacturers of filament one brand I would recommend that is easily available is the 'Ziro' brand - usually available on Amazon, although I would stick to the standard flat colour PLA until you find out the capabilities of the printer as 'silk' or other special PLA's just like PLA+ often have different requirements and can cause issues such as layer de-lamination and bed adhesion if you don't have the heat settings correct.

Anyway I hope it does turn out successful for you and I look forward to seeing some results from it. If you do get issues I'm happy to advise if I can and please don't take the above as me trying to moan at you, its just my first impressions after looking at the website and based on some hard won experience with 3D printers of various designs...

I actually did get some PLA in the mail recently.

It's from a brand called Overture and it's 2.2 lb of fulfillment.

The Trackmaster (flat drive unit) Hunslet Austerity shell is 110mm x 39mm x 32mm in size.

7.5 inches equals 190.5mm

Love that Hunslet Austerity shell T-Boy
Overture is a another good brand, I'm not 100% sure, but it may even be one of Amazon's in house brands - they have a couple and all are very good quality.

I agree you'll be fine with the j94 in terms of size, but just mentioned it as most 3D printers usually have a build area of 220-230mm x & y and 250mm z which give you far more flexibility.   Although you will be happy to start with you'll soon find a model that needs the extra space Smile

Incidentally I've tried to print the J94 model and hit some issues, when its loaded into Cura (one of the industry standard 'slicers' that create the print files) it flags up that there are 'errors' in the model.  However I did try to print it as sometimes you can get away with errors as it depends where they are.  The results are below, but unfortunately there are big problems.  It is fine until it gets to the point that it is beginning to print the top of the boiler then whatever is missing in the mesh causes it to print parts with a gap (you'll see what I mean when you look at the pics) which result in the funnel etc... not adhering to the body.  I've tried running the model through meshmixer to fix the model, but this seems unable to fix it even though it detects errors when you use the inspect mode.  I'm only warning you in case you try to print it and have a failure as there's nothing worse than hitting failures when you start out - not to mention the wastage of filament...

Looks like that engine ran through and got tangled in a barbed wire fence 😃

Didn't realize there was so much wasted filament inside a print like this.
