Oh...neat a whole series of replicas. I really would like to see Tomy?Plarail com up with a version of the Pennsylvania, that Amtrak and that Union Pacific...Oh.....[Image: happy-yes-smiley-emoticon.gif] Many thanks for sharing this with us Nstrainmaster.
I wish Plarail had the same status it does in Japan, ever since the Trackmaster series came up things seem to be on the downhill Confused. I hope one day Tomy Takara can get the license back and do Thomas with and perhaps railway products native to the US. They did it before (Amtrak F7 and Santa Fe ish thing) but it should be on a scale that is well known to the American public. I miss I can't get that Tomy Ffarquhar Station set I had in 2004 when I was a small boy :c.

What I have learned from the experts here is that the makers of those Amtrak etc. sets was Tomica World which was Tomy/Plarail for sale in the US but it never caught on so they decided to no longer have a US division as it wasn't successful. Personally, I am not that interested in them retaining the Thomas license although I do see why others would. No, I would much rather see them expand into creating more replica trains for different parts of the world like you say as it seems that they have just about exhausted what the Japanese trains have to offer. I guess this would all depend on how well their target audience is interested in models from around the world which is mostly the Japan & Asia market. I think it would be a good test for their market if they found an unusual train from some other country to see if it would be welcomed in their market area. I know I would be all over it.

Is this the set you had as a boy? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trackmaster-THOM...4ae29f87b4

I do like the Japanese side of the trains, I would get a TOMY train from Japan any day, but Tomica needs to expand into English and American markets with a BANG! This may have been talked here before, but I think if we got replica Tomy trains, PowerTrains would cease to exist. I would have loved to get a NS Dash 9 Tomy set when I was little and I still want it today. I just dont think it can be a limited release, but a full fledged force. It may very well happen one day with all the Plarail copyists here. And when they do Ill be first in the store with 30 bucks XD. Oh, and my set if memory serves right had Annie and Clarabel. That one looks slightly too old. Thanks for looking for it though! -nstrainmaster

I wish they fit on standard Plarail track. Maybe with a bit of modification? Tongue

But I hope these roll out soon, they look pretty decent.

Also I hope the the smaller scale can fit in with Plarail Advance building wise.

Wow! I so want that B&O set! I wonder if the B&O RR museum will have it...
It probably will, as it will support its own museum.

love the look of all those replica sets, especially the western steam engine.

Hope so. I'll be keeping an eye out for it! The Amtrak one comes with the same stations as the subway one! It should come with an Amshack station instead!
Fingers crossed!

sounds like the same track gauge as super express who did a whole line of japanese trains, the track is just slightly narrower than plarail
