What did you do to your trains today?

I haven't heard of the "9V battery trick", so I'd like to know what that is and how a 9V battery would fit. I just happened to find a good working motor from something totally different, which should be good for my first motor swap attempt. However, it might be better to wait until I could start using the models again so as to avoid killing that motor as well. I'd better check the other engines to make sure it only happened to certain ones.

You aren't installing a 9 volt battery, you just use it to try and 'Jump Start' a stuck motor. Simply hold a couple wires from the + & - terminals of the battery to the + & - terminals of the motor to see if the 'Jolt' might 'Kickstart' the motor.
another solution (sometimes it work) is to remove the motor off the chassis and reinstall it.  Sometimes oil and residue got stuck.  move the gear exposed at the bottom of the motor a little bit.

I've tested the other engines, and (thankfully) they all run except Edward and Emily. It should be worth noting the Edward that's currently in the shed is the C tender type, but the wire coupling seems totally fine from outside. It turned out Emily's tender had a battery the whole time (it didn't leak), which should be more understandable.

Hopefully either of the suggested methods should get at least one of them to do something. The "C tender" drive unit sounds more complex than the flat drives, and I'm sure Sun used to have a repair guide for Edward (not even the Wayback Machine helped me find it if there was one). I'm really glad the other seven are operational.

Remember the episode where Daisy had to pull the narrow gauge coaches? Well, I don't, but I can recreate it now.

I need to paint and add some details to the Daisy body (and update the file before I print any more, I forgot to leave a hole in the flat roof on the body shell for the switch and had to punch a big hole in it) and add some details to the roof model and reprint it. I also still need to model her face, I need to do some test prints and see if my printer is up to the task.
I have a website where I have been writing about and photographing many of the sets and pieces that I find interesting.

Are those Coaches 3D printed?

Yes, they fit on a troublesome truck base. I ended up printing some bases as well, I didn't want to take away from my truck stock. They are shorter and hopefully more in scale with the narrow gauge engines.

They look really good Duck. Smile
Update: I've successfully tried the 9V method on Spencer, though I might have to turn this into a permanent mod since a AA still can't do anything. I just hope it wouldn't burn out when he'd actually run after being converted. One big advantage is it gives him a much more appropriate speed for an LNER A4, which I once tried to get with two batteries taped to each other (in the loco).

I also painted the provisional Henry despite my intention to build an improved one. The second version will use spray paint that's closer to Percy's green and will look more smoothly painted. The wheel stickers would be sprayed along with him and his tender (which I have yet to make). The separate smokebox from the other Edward should fit well on him.

Are you sure the AA, when fitted in the engine is making good contact? Try putting it in backwards. Using a 9volt permanenty would make him insanely fast I would think. Ucwepn did this in a video and I believe several others.

Is Spencer a Trackmaster II or regular?
