3D Modelling

I plan to make the entire thing. The engine bolts to the frames in several places and only one of the bolted on sections of frame are actually bolted on - this is because I used a mirror modifier to get both halves of the bike the same. Once I've added all the other brackets that are on n both sides I will apply the modifier and then change parts asymmetrically as needed. For reference, the real bike is a Yamaha XJ900S Diversion.

I'm doing this as dad has one we are fixing and I thought it could help him visualise color schemes before he actually paints the bike.

I looked that bike up and its a good looker. Is that a 4 cylinder?

Yes it is It also sounds pretty good (if not for a bike in general, then for a bike that hasn't been started in 12 years!)



nearly done with this side of the asymmetrical engine. after I add the alternator I can make the carburettors, exhaust and then go over the whole thing for littler details like screws, nuts and cables. And then I can start on the really hard stuff!

Wow, you can do all that details with things like screws, carburetor and such? This is going to be interesting. And double wow..with 4 cylinders this bike must be a screamer.

I know I haven't posted on BPT at all for a fair while now and know that this thread will be overlooked too but thought I could give people a little update both about my projects and personal life.



I've been adding little bits to renders but haven't really been motivated to work on many projects lately as I have been working a lot more to save up for something. I don't think anyone here knows a great deal about me but at the very least might have heard I like motorcycles. For christmas I paid for my dad's basic motorcycle training course which is a legal requirement to get a motorcycle license in this state and a few weeks ago he went and bought his dream bike, a Honda CB750 Four Super Sport, after I found an ad for a great dealer in Melbourne. As it happens the bike is nearly identical to the 750 four he had when he was younger, a 1978 CB750F. Two weeks later I found my dream bike at a price I could afford, a 2009 Yamaha R1, also in Melbourne.

I am planning to make a 3D model of both our bikes at some stage though starting with dad's as it doesn't have large sweeping surfaces as with mine.

No doubt people have at least seen there is a model kits thread as well which I started after getting back into the hobby. I've given it a rest at the moment after some decals bubbling or tearing on the Ta 152 but I do plan to design some of my own kits for resin casting. Of the kits I am hoping to make, at the very least I want to make my bike. Tamiya do some great motorcycle kits and there are a lot of diecast options out there as well but absolutely nothing for the generation of my R1.

So that's all. TLDR nothing surprising from me, not being motivated to model anymore etc.

That 1978 CB750F that your Dad use to have was a monster back in the day. Also made for a weird looking Chopper as that 4 cylinder motor was so wide.

What face is that for in the first picture?

Yes the 750 was a beast back in the day and set the standard for most modern motorcycles. That isn't to say that it isn't just as potent today though. I may be getting myself one in the near future so we can go to classic motorcycle shows etc but I'll hold off until I work out where I'm going in life.

The face is for Splatter and Dodge from Thomas and the Magic Railroad. I posted it on shapeways for people to use on their Bachmann Diesel/'Arry/Bert/Paxton to convert them.

Maybe a new Trackmaster Splatter/Dodge face would be nice.

That Hopper Car is awesome. The wood grain and riveting is very detailed.
