Sorry to bump this, I have 2 different versions of Edward that need coal covers.

I've just come across a review of a new small footprint 3d printer that seems really positive so I thought I would bring it to your attention -

Quite the cute little thing isn't it?
Indeed, as well as cheap and lots of features also a quite impressive build size for its diminutive footprint.  I reckon it would make an ideal first printer for a beginner and yet large enough that you could produce say train body shells Big Grin

Next up...Pocket Printers Big Grin
How about this one, smaller and even a little cheaper Big Grin

Mind you, this one caught my eye the other day, not particularly cheap, but it is small, fully assembled and aimed squarely at the consumer market instead of the hobbyist. Of course the downside is that it is pretty much locked in (bit like Apple products), but at least on paper is easy to use and 'safe', could be a sign of 3D printers headed into the mainstream consumer market, next thing you'll have one made by the likes of HP and available in high street stores rather than just specialist 'nerd' retailers Big Grin

Do you think any of these are ones that you have to use their filament or their spools?
Super the first two definitely will use any generic filament, although you might have to buy smaller reels for the Monoprice as it doesn't look like it takes kilo reels. Only the 'ToyBox' one may have dedicated spools, but even then it looks like you could at worst re-wind a normal filament spool onto the smaller one it uses...

The only brands I know of that have chipped or dedicated spools in their range are the XYZ cheaper models and the Dremel machines. Although I would guess there are others I've not heard of.
