I notice the same seller has several other auctions for less but still ludicrous amounts.
I often wonder when I see these sorts of auctions why the sellers even bother. I guess it’s possible that Jeff Bezos is an avid Tomica collector with no sense of financial responsibility but I really doubt it. At $700,000 for what’s basically a small toy car, even many millionaires couldn’t afford such an extravagant and frankly stupid expenditure.
At least in the part of the US where I live, $700,000 would buy you a very nice house. Heck, be a little more frugal and you could buy a nice but less extravagant house, fully furnished with a couple of cars in the garage!
Good point...why do they bother? I wonder if in the past someone bought something at a ridiculous large amount so they said why not. Just list things at a huge price and let them ride especially if they don't care if it sells or not. After all, they aren't looking for a lot of buyers...just one.
