I'm not going to go rambling on I think I'll let the pictures do the talking for me, but here's an excellent example of a USA outline streamlined steam loco, this model (HO gauge) is huge at nearly 14" long including the tender!!

Great model of what’s probably one of the most impressive streamline steam engines built. Not forgetting the New York Central streamlined Hudsons, of course! Wink

It is an awesome looking train. Hard to believe that its a steam engine in that era when one would have been so use to seeing the big iron beasts.

It reminds me a lot of the A4's and Coronation class streamlined trains in the UK when the average loco would have been like the scotsman, must have been like seeing concorde for the first time when used to the tristars lol
