My Very Pitiful Train Haul

6 Replies, 6913 Views

I am almost embarrassed to show you this pitiful train haul from Japan but its getting harder and harder to find anything I want.

2 more 'Rockin Log Wagons' which gives me a total of 3 now. Could use at least 1 more which is the only thing I am looking for train wise now. As you can see I have already swapped out the couplings for black.

I wanted the Percy Dinosaur train just for his 3 cars to add to our character type collection for the Disney Layout.

Now I said "Pitiful Train Haul"....thats not the only things I have assembled in the last few weeks. I have a huge amount of other non-train stuff with more on the way. Second picture gives you the hint.

It surely pales in comparison to the packages all you 'Pro's' have coming in.

The rest of the non-train stuff that arrived in this package and others...can you say OVERBOARD?

Things sure do mount up when you are watching carefully and I still have some more coming.

Since my train buying has all but dried up I moved over to the Diecast vehicle collection. I wanted to concentrate on vehicles that had a theme that, in the future, my Grandson would recognize like favorite foods or cartoons etc. I also wanted name branding that mean't either something to me or him. Extending from that came campers, Food trucks and trailers and Disney etc. I have to admit this one got away from me fast.

One good thing about buying these Diecast vehicles over trains from Japan, the shipping is waaaaay cheaper and you get so much more in a smaller package. But along with that, browsing is harder on the Japan Auctions. If you thought browsing the Plarail trains was hard with around 5000 Listings daily, try browsing through over 70,000 daily Listings of Tomica Vehicles. One day I was browsing the 'End Soonest' for Tomica diecast and went through over 11,000 that were ending within 2 hours...there were more but I had to give up.

I have some issues that I will bring up in another thread with scale as, except for a couple of items, everything here is listed at 1:64 but don't match up.

Yea be careful with tomy diecast vehicles. They come in various scales.

I am happy with most (not all) of the Tomica.s and the Hotwheels or Matchbox its some of the other, not as well known that are bigger even though they say 1:64
Hot Dogs, Hamburgers & Fries Anyone?

I like anything that relates to the Fast Foods.

Of Course I had to have an Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile (Hot Wheels)

A neat Mickey Mouse Hamburger Cart, Disney (Tomica)

Benny Burger & Bobs Hot Dog Trailers, these are listed as 1:87 scale and I think fits perfectly with the Hotwheels, Tomica, Matchbox 1:64 vehicles. (Oxford Diecast)

And a favorite, 3 variations of these neat Potato Fries trucks that I think goes perfectly with the 3 different Hamburger trucks we have (2nd picture). These have articulated hitches and the cabs can be interchangable. I think there is only one other color variation, at least what I have seen, that was a Limited release from a Tomica show but it had no writing in the center portion. (Tomica)
