Here is a question:

Is the above battery configuration only for the 25th Anniversary Disney Monorail and is this one the only one with sounds? Is the sound operational or is it talking and if so what language?

If I could remember which tote/box mine are packed in I would check for you, but I am 85% sure they all have this battery configuration as well as sound. The sound is not songs like Disney theme or anything unfortunately..

Yeah I believe they do all have sound although I may be confused ..

The batteries may be as you mentioned to make it more balanced and stable although they do wobble something fierce..

I do think, as a project, I want to get one of these to see what modifications can be made to make them more stable running. Why do I remember that the 25th Anniversary was the one to get, did it have better graphics or run better?

I prefer the look of the 30th anniversary one and the 10th is pretty nice too. I remember seeing the 25th one quite a few times in various states in the last searches I was doing ( which is on hold now..) but I have a 30th anniversary one I have been watching for several months hoping it goes a bit cheaper..

Upon further checking it looks like there are two different battery configurations for the Disney Monorails. Initially I thought maybe the non-Anniversary releases may only use one C cell but in the pictures below we see there are ones with a C cell on each end with the middle car having a button cell for sound but on others we see that there is only a big door for a C cell on one end, a small door on the other end for a button battery and no door on the middle car. There is also the picture which shows the 10th Year Anniversary release uses only the one C cell in the lead car and the button cell in the last car.

Still can't figure out why the need for 2 C cells or in the differences in battery configuration is maybe first and second generation. Anyone have ideas?
