new shocks for my motorcycle

6 Replies, 5279 Views

ordered and fitted a new pair of shocks this past week. cost me $100 for the pair and $10 for a mate to help me fit them.

the old ones. 19 years, and in need to replacing. will gradually replace parts as i can afford. i only just missed out on an exhaust from the same scrapped bike.

and the 750 might be back on the road in time for winter, too. the guy that helped me fit the shocks has the flywheel being looked at by someone he knows. i have since removed the ratty bubble stickers that were on the tank. i have plans of getting it painted, if i can find a decent airbrush artist in town.

the 750 is canadian in origin, and i would love to know if theres a way i can see where she was before being exported. i tried googling, to see if i could use the VIN, but nothing decent came up. even if i could work out what province would be nice.

Nice new shocks so Sunhuntin can haul bigger, heavier boxes of train stuff back and forth to the clubhouse Big Grin

hadnt thought of that! maybe thats partly why the old ones are so stuffed. lol. that and im not a lightweight by any means.

least next time i take the niece and nephews for a short ride, it will be more comfortable for us. some of the bumps and potholes in this town are deceptively deep.

750 is back on the road as of yesterday. took her for a blast out of town around a long block, my first time going at that high a speed in 2 years [100k, around 65mph]. going to have to get myself used to it again.
found a leak at the fuel tap under the tank, and shes going in tomorrow to another mechanic for front brake pads, a service and tune up.

You are going to have a new bike by the time you are through Sun Smile How many miles or kilometers do you have on the bike?

the 98 250cc has 94,000km or thereabouts. had 38,000km when i bought it in 2007. i plan on getting her to 100,000km and then retiring her. the 82 750cc, which is the one ive just put back on the road, has around 46,000km.

so far, ive decided the bikes will be week about to keep things moving and working properly. 750 will be out from this morning for servicing etc, so the 250 will be back on the roster tomorrow until the big girl gets back. hoping to have her for saturday so i can stretch her legs properly.

not the best photo, but the only one i have of the two together. 250 in the front.

Well you are getting your moneys worth for sure riding for that many miles. Both bikes look great and I especially like the looks of the 250, with its low seat nestled down below the rear fender. It reminds me of the looks of a hard tail chopper.
