Plarail Super Hikari Set - Remote Controlled

Fantastic, love that train, the white suspension bridges and station. Strange how they could have the complete set but the largest part of it is missing. I also am curious as to where they placed the R/C receiver on the train. On the R/C trains like this that I have and had the receiver is placed in black dome on top of the middle car. I wonder if they managed to put in inside the windshield of the rear car. Can't wait to see the video when you receive the controller.

the white overhead lines are also found in the sets with the grey elevated track. to me, they can also look like street lights.

Finally had a chance to get into the remote and see what was wrong besides the battery terminals. They were completely gone all but one. They are a completely odd style or terminal too so rather than sourcing out replacements for them I opted to fit the remote with a AAA battery pack. This worked great! So the other issue was the switch. For some reason it was not working. I tried everything I could think of. I ended up replacing that and other than it having a bit of tension to switch it on and off it worked well. Here is a pic of the battery pack:

Once I had the remote fixed I tested with the train and low and behold the axle gear was cracked. Luckily I have become quite versed at replacing these and my jig I made works well to pop the wheel off. Kind of interesting is the setup of gears for these. It is similar to the other RC style sets I have like this though.

And the set back in the carton.

I may try and make a video of this at some point but for now it will probably be stored away. The box (as mentioned) is in horrible shape so I am hoping to not have to take it out to many times.

Totally awesome! I'd almost forgotten about that set and the remote. So the power unit is 4WD?! I've never seen that on a factory-made Plarail/TrackMaster train before. I wonder if that makes this more powerful than a normal one. It shall be interesting to see how it works.

Yeah it seems to be a very unique design, lots of gears.. When it is running and you press one of the buttons on the remote it speeds up pretty fast. Reverse seems to not function which I would think is why the lever on the right goes both ways but it could be something with the remote too. There was heavy corrosion and some was on the circuit board. I may open it back up to have another look sometime.
