Trackmaster Fiery Flynn Rescue Set

Yesterday I picked up the TrackMaster Fiery Flynn Rescue Set for a good 29.99 at a local Wal-Mart. I have been considering getting the set for some time and I had some money so I decided to pick it up. The set is simple in design and (of course) came with Fiery Flynn and some type of water tank car for him. Molded on the model himself he has tools like shovels and hammers , ect. The model is detailed to the motor gear, but lacks in coloring on some molds. Though this is, it doesn't really bother me. A sharpie could fix it, which makes me wonder, if it's THAT easy, why they didn't do it in the factory. Despite this I like Flynn and find him a good model to have. This set also came with a supposed shed from the Search And Rescue Center. It honestly is just a flat wall with windows and sirens and symbols on the front. It doesn't have really anything else. I still think it's cool but it should be a full shed in my opinion. I do however like it's look as it has a nice . Also something to mention is it is placed on a half straight track with blue push thru blue doors. This is strange as normally accessories run on a full straight. Last (but defiantly not least) is in my opinion the set's main feature, a train operated burning building. The building is small in size to others but in my opinion looks great. When the train goes by and (if set to stop) uses gears to pull the flame down, however if ran from the opposite side makes the flames go up and down automatically. When the flames are set down a little lever must be used to reset the flames. It pulls up and when done pulls the flames back up. The plastic on all parts of the set look great and the paint looks good, and overall the set is worth getting if you really want it or you just HAVE to have the burning building or the flat shed wall or even just Flynn. The set retails for about 30.00 US dollars and I would recommend it if you can get it for a good price. Don't pay more than 35 US dollars. No more than that. Overall I give the set a good 8.5 out if 10! I personally think they should make more of sets like these if they make it to have more stuff and maybe a full shed. Why not a Belle set?

Do any if you have this set? If so, what are your opinions on it? Do you wish to see more sets like this? What would you like to see in future related sets? Discuss

Sorry for any mispells I do, I have to do this on a phone so sorry if i do , LOL. Pesky little machines

I was thinking about getting this set just today as my local WalMart has it for $20 on clearance. But I want to get some Paw Patrol toys for my son once they're released here later this week so my 'toy budget' is already allocated there.
If they still have them in few weeks I'll probably get it as WM around here only has 4 sets:
- Fiery Flynn Rescue Set ($20)
- Percy Reptile Park ($29.99 not really interested in this one)
- Paxton Pump & Fill Oil Works ($20 but not interested in this one)
- Deluxe Spiral Track ($24.99) (interested in this one but not for $25.. I'll wait for sale Cool )

And at TRU I saw the Wild Whirling Ol' Wheezy Set but for like $34.99Exclamation so no thanks

The sets are all over $50 here in Australia (windmill starter set, signal starter set, spinning cranky etc) which makes them automatically a larger purchase and less of an impulse buy, and when I outlay money on a larger purchase I tend to do some research first and thus I see how crappy most of the sets are and overpriced here thus I don't buy them unless heavily on sale.
Funny you've mentioned the Windmill Starter Set.. It was on clearance for $10 at Target last week. But i thought it was still too much for just a tiny windmill plus basic oval track set.

I like the idea of the Windmill Starter , but it's just waaaay to overpriced. If the windmill was battery powered, it would be worth it no doubt. However all it is is a oval with a plastic windmill that turns. Honestly, not worth what it is going for. Over here it's 17 dollars. If it where powered, trust me. I'd have one.

Perhaps a small motor could do the trick for powering the windmill. It's been done (in video) before, but how hard is it to do this! Come on fisher price how hard is it! I still like the overall set look but it's pretty overpriced around here.

If this can be done , I'd get it just for the powering of it. I'm a noob at that stuff though Wink lol.

Good purchase and review, you're certainly living up to your username! The sets released this year and last year have been pretty good choices with less common characters and unique buildings, and whenever it's a common character it's an awesome special variant.

Agreed, thanks Smile and EmilyFan that's the OTHER Flynn rescue set which in my opinion is one of the best Trackmaster Sets! It has a huge and well detailed remote control cranky with tons of phrases and play ability, as he has engine carriers and magnetic cargo that is usable in the set. Defiantly worth getting. I've had mine for about 2 years now and it's still almost perfect! He is matched almost perfectly in size with trackmaster engines. I have him next to my Spinning Cranky , to make like a double Cranky haurbor, lol
