Hope you can see the Picture on the link above. Otherwise let me know and I´ll upload it somewhere else.
Anyway. I´m colleting things from my childhood. And one of my "unicorns" is this train set. That Picture is the only one that I´ve got and it´s taken from an old Super-8 Movie from -78.
After a lot of googling, I´m rather sure that it might be a Tomik/Tomy/Plarail-set. The rail looks as I remember them as well as the trees and the signals etc.. The train /battery operated) itself was blue with grey details on it. And if I´m not misstaken, one of the wagons contained timber (I actually have one log left. But that´s the only remaining parts that I´ve got).
Not the easiest thing to identify - but if you have one, perhaps this picture is good enough :-)

Hope there is someone out there that can help me
I would say thats vintage Plarail. Wish I could see better. I hope a member here can give us the solution or maybe where to find the answers. I seem to recall an older train set like this one but I don't remember it having red track. It looks to be an EF unit engine but what number I am not sure of. I will keep looking around but hope someone else knows something for sure. I did find this set which is similar and for the time frame but not the same...

Thank you for your help. But I'm rather sure that it's not a Playcraft set. Because the rail looks different. The set I had looked exactly like plarailtracks - but red (I had a part until a few years ago so I have seen the track recently. And the more I look the more I'm convinced that it was a Tomica set of some kind. Trees, track, crossings, signals, tow hitch (or what it's called on a train) looks as I remember them. I do live in Sweden. So perhaps, in those days, there were sets made for individual countries? And under another brand? I'll keep on searching the Web. And hope for some more leads from you in this forum ?

i know plarail have made red tracks, but not aware of an entire set being made up of it. usually just one or two pieces along with other colors, and only curves that i know of.

i would say toltoys as well, but their trains were vastly different, shorter and skinnier. not motorised either.
my website address has changed: https://sunscollections.weebly.com/
Although I can't locate an exact match or set here is a look at a train that was in the 1981 Catalog. I know its after the years you mentioned but this may be a variation of an earlier train. This one has a log car, yellow flatbed and is an EF58 engine that looks to be blue with grey. The log car also may have been reduced in this variation along with changing the wheels from yellow to red. Its the closest I am getting but like Sunhuntin mentioned I have not come up with an earlier set with all red track but that doesn't mean they don't exist especially if its like you say an exclusive release to Sweden. Maybe we are getting closer with all this input.

Finally found a set. It's the EF58 and with red track. Now I just need parts like stop light, trees etc. But they seem to be the same as the sets with blue track ☺
