thomas and friends mini series

I apologize for making that comment about some of you guys having jewelry scale hands, in fact there is a big difference between the engines. I hadn't noticed that because I was keeping the most recent releases in package until I unwrapped them today. The result is extremely disappointing (in terms of weight) but in terms of quality, there isn't a whole lot to complain. In fact some of the newer Chinese made ones have more detail, check Skarloey's smokestack.

This time Made in China is on Left, made in Thailand is on Right. Sorry about the switcheroo.

The paintjob on Chinese made Thomas has better resolution.

And the weight difference:

Given the fact that already unimpressive playsets use gravity to work, having un-weighted minis will be quite the mess. I can see them not working well at all in the Stunt and both flavors of the Twist set. Bummer.

Did some Christmas shopping and got a nice bunch of minis. All of 2016/4 except Sports Edward at Toys R Us, the four new 3 packs, the SpongeBob and the Red Torando 9 packs at Walmart and Sports Edward and the two new 7 packs at Target. Now to wait till Christmas to open :p

Made in China Hiro definitely feels lighter than Thai-made Hiro as well as the others from the same package.

Here's something interesting...snake cargo car with weight plate.

Looks like some of the new 2017 3 packs infact come with weights. Maybe there is a quality control issue at the new production plant. Anyone else have the new 3 packs to verify if they have weights or not?

Thanks Mike, it is odd.
What's the number under the car?

That is interesting as I have begun to check the trains I've been getting recently. The SB 9 packs from my Walmarts do not have weights. Nor do the DC 9 packs made in China.

I agree with Mike that it is bad QC in the new plant. I have a snake cargo and can see the weight inside as well
The 2017 minis 3 packs are now listed on the toysrus.com website for $5.99 if anyone is looking for them Smile happy shopping

I got an Edward with Thomas face, I was going through my duplicates in the office, and I took the duplicates home. First thing my 6 year old pointed out was that "Daddy, This is not Edward, this is Thomas but has Edward's number".

The one in the office (in my collection) has the correct face.
