some are you are familiar with my christmas layouts featuring plarail/trackmaster etc.

this year, lego released a christmas train, which i have bought and fitted with 9V. i dont have a huge amount of 9V track, and cant afford to buy more right now. should i also do my usual tomy running around the outside? could do the lego train running one direction, and thomas running the other.

after last years dramas, the tomy layout will be basic, maybe using the transfer station, but will have to wait and see.

this will all come down to the size of the table, but i think it would work if i cut down on the amount of junk filler used.

so, what say you, members of BPT?

I think that'd be fun. Little bit of both worlds! Does your 9V have any lights? Thinking it'd look wonderful running in the dark.
i do have lights, but im not skilled enough to work out how to fit them to this set.

Anxious to see this years layout as it will be hard to top last years.
thanks, super. last years show was ok, but the layout caused the air around me to turn rather blue, as that trackmaster track just doesnt like to work how i think it should. so many oddball curves and raised track, so i refuse to use it this year. blue track instead.

just thinking about the width of the table, i dont think there will be room for the transfer station, so might go with a row of clear tunnels like i did at another show last year, that way they can go quite close to the edge and not risk being grabbed by small hands or falling off.

I think the older Large scale TOMY would scale well with lego trains and the cars have studs so you could get imaginative with rolling stock

ok, tomy is out. it wont fit the width of the table.

however, my lego collection has exploded, so my display is now 1.5 tables long... makes the track look a bit pathetic because i only have a small amount, and its too expensive to buy more right now. i will get photos next week some time.

Hey Sun,

I got the new train also, what's the build like? I've not yet had it out the box as I was busy with the Ausini one lol!

nice buy, nigels. the build is pretty good, nice and basic. likely the most technical bit is the gearing under the tree, but thats easy as pie, too.

it comes with enough track to fit around a christmas tree, but youll need the power functions for that, unless you have loads of 9v track, lol.
