That's very true, as the years have gone by the quality of these toys have been less, and the looks are DEFINITELY failing. It's a real disappointment. I guess that's what happens when a toy company owns Thomas and Friends.

I hate fisher price somuch right now because instead of making Ashima they made stupid trophy Thomas which only appeared for like a second and another reason is because of still putting holes in the wheels even thought they don't use sticks anymore

True. Very lazy indeed.

I would not call Ashima a lazy choice. She would either need to be toned down alot loosing her charm, or be stickered to death. A paint job like that is expensive and alot of engines go unsold as it is. Making 50 rehashes of Thomas may seam stupid, but its cheaper molding and a more recognizable character.

The previous engines were big, slow, loud and powerful, just as they would be. Also, most sets were designed like actual railways and not obstacle courses. The new ones are like "cars on rails", with little to no attention to what makes the show and books what they are. They also appear in misleading sets, which could easily trick people who don't know about the show into thinking that's what it's like. It's as if the new TrackMaster is marketed to entirely different children to the ones that see the show, since it gives them such wrong ideas. If Mattel didn't own the whole franchise, a better company could've easily bought the rights and brought out a better incarnation than ever (even more so than TOMY's).

Yeah, just imagine what a company could do if they put their mind to it. They could have engines as realistic as the Bachmann Thomas and Friends engines, that would be intended for children and collectors of every age, and sets that accurately represent each part of the Island of Sodor!
