different model joining

Hi Guys,

stopped off at the 2nd hand shop today just to waste some time and picked up a bag of the older light brown trackmaster track with a station all for $4. I threw it together and noticed the new trackmaster revolution trains are bottoming out on the junctions and stop area. wondering if anyone else has had this issue with the revolution trains with the spikey wheels. I got it becaues it's cheap and we have unused adaptors from our newer sets but if they just bottom out seems I have to shave 1 of the 2 down trains or track.
any ideas appreciated
Yes they have made the activation/locking tab on the bottom of the locomotives hang too low so it fouls on the older track and seemingly to make them not compatible. Dirty tactics indeed but I have found a fix and made a tutorial. This works for all Trackmaster revolution including the talking engines but the talking disassembly is a little different.

thanks only reason you pulled it apart was to save damage to the gears etc? pretty much exactly what my plan was without the disassembly. do they still activate on the newer tracks once the mod is done or will they drive right through stop stations?
**nvm yes they still work fine on the new tracks too I just filed them without taking it apart. Ive pulled them apart for cleaning before as ours run on carpet often so it won't be long before they're apart for cleaning again lol
I honestly don't have any new track set up to test but it should be fine.
One thing to keep in mind is that older trains will not work on Revolution's inclines, and Revolution trains will not work on the steeper older inclines, at least not without some weight. But even with weight added, Revolution engines may have troubles coming from the drastically different traction tires.
I don't know if this is everyone's problem, but since the very beginning I've found it annoying that even after filing down the activation tab, Revolution engines will get suck on the curved TOMY slopes. the ends of them have very short flat parts, and my Trackmaster Ryan always gets its drive wheels lifted off of the tracks by it.

I don't know anything but the revolution, until recently when I get the series before. But I'm noticing the older track is so simplistic at joining and creating your own unique track where as the new revolution stuff is harder to alter I mean we have 3 different sets and parts are so individual making 1 LARGE track isn't an option usually the 3 individuals get joined by there Y pieces and that's it. very tiresome... plarail looks like a good substitute except for then having wasted $$ on the revolutions Sad. things u do for your kids lol

Stick the sets on ebay and re-invest in good ole Tomy blue track and loco's/rolling stock you won't regret it Smile
