Sort of Wishlist Help

Ive been thinking about making a wishlist for me and my parents to follow regarding TOMY trains. I'm probably going to need to put it in order of how soon we'd buy it. I'll add more in the morning on that, but for now I'm also having trouble deciding which version of several engines to get. Powerful Gordon V.S. Old Plarail Gordon, 2014 James V.S. Old James, and Trackmaster Bill and Ben V.S. TOMY Bill and Ben.

Actual Wishlist: (in no particular order yet)
  • Plarail Emily
  • Emily's Coaches
  • -2013 Plarail Gordon OR Mike's Powerful Gordon Tribute
  • -2013 Plarail James OR 2014-present Plarail James
  • 1 or more green express coaches
  • TrackMaster Diesel
  • Plarail OR TrackMaster Oliver
  • Plarail Ryan
  • Plarail OR TrackMaster Bill and Ben
  • Plarail OR TrackMaster Donald and Douglas
  • Plarail OR TrackMaster Duck
for the most part, there are little or no differences between tomy and trackmaster releases. [excluding the current trackmaster line.]

in some, there may be a different drive unit or battery type needed [old james needs a C, whereas a new one might need two AA]

powerful gordon, however, has a different face mold and is rarer, so more expensive. i like him, but barely run him due to the rarity and unlikelyness of being able to replace easily.

others might be able to chime in, but i would be patient, and buy the best you can [boxed as opposed to bulk lots that have been used and abused]

Yes Powerful Gordon is quite rare, and quite different from the standard early Plarail releases...He has a different face, is weighted differently, and has a different motor to accommodate heavier loads without a loss in speed.
The Tomy Bill and Ben have front cab windows whereas the Fisher Price versions do not, but the FP versions have painted whites to thier eyes, whereas the Tomys do not...The Brendam Bay font is noticeably larger on the FP version, and the mustard colored bodies and brown cab detailing aren't quite as dark or rich on the Tomy as they are on the FP's either, as for James, I am assuming you mean the last Fisher Price version with a detachable tender and new face VS. the old C cell attached tender version...that's a toss up!!
The attached version is kinda clunky and slow, but the detachable one seems kinda flimsy and weird when the tender is detached...James is James and I suppose either would suffice.
Hope this helpsSmile

Miksolo...do a Google search on "Tomy Powerful Gordon" and you will find my site customthomas.com. Once there, seach for Powerful Gordons. You will find my tribute (Copy) of this train. You can also see one my Powerful Gordon's at UCWPN's Youtube channel by the title of "Gordon comes to Sodor" and another viewing source would be to visit Percyengine619 Youtube channel title "The trouble with mud". Thank you UCWPN and Percyengine619!

My trains are brand new, never been played with, right out of the box then back into the same box Plarail Gordons that have been modified to the same standards as the original Powerful Gordons. An original Powerful Gordon in this same new condition would cost hundreds of dollars, my tributes are less than one. Hope this information helps. Cheers Smile

I know about your website, Mike, but thank you anyway. Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough: I was very tired and very sick, and it was late at night when I made the thread. I'd never even attempt to buy a genuine Powerful Gordon, as it is way over my budget, and my parents' approval. Besides, I don't care if it's genuine or not, as long as it looks good, it's sturdy, and it works.

P.S.: You don't mind me defacing one, do you? I'd like to switch between the normal Gordon face and the angry face.

For Powerful Gordon, I just want to get Mike's Powerful Gordon. And as for James, I mean the Plarail 2014 redesign, with the whistle on the cab roof, and the new CGi face, as opposed to old Plarail James, the one you're talking about.

If it breaks, it breaks. I make sure to take very good care of my engines, so nothing too bad should happen. The worst that can happen as long as I'm the only one around is a piece of plastic from the tender chipping off from dropping it. (That's what happened to my current Gordon. I've learned to forget about it, but it would be possible to fix, but I do hope to do a complete switchover from Motor Road & Rail U.S. to Japan's Plarail at some point.)

Anyways, I'll make sure to take especially good care of Powerful Gordon. I'd store it in a case on a shelf instead of keeping it in a bin with the rest.

the tender chip is exactly what happened to ucwepns powerful gordon... an original one that i sourced for him. he has found out the number font is different to any other gordon, so going to be very hard to replace with one the same.

Oh, the font is something I probably wouldn't worry about. Did his chip off a lot tho? My Gordon's chip was quite small. Just a corner of the tender on the top left popped off. I had it fastened back with tape for a while, but it weakened and came off again, but I'm still not that angry.

P.S.: I honestly don't much I should say in these replies. Doing homework and talking to other people at the same time I'm writing this, and I'm still a bit sick.
i think his was near the buffer. cant quite remember as it was a while ago, and i think he is happy to have one either way. mine, i keep in a perspex case along with my metallic thomas set and the metallic minis.

It happened when I was running it for the pleasure of the lovely youtube viewers hehe, he fell off the table due to a derailment and lost a corner of the buffer beam including 1 buffer

Ouch, that must've hurt! >.< Sorry about that, man.
I have my layout on the floor, so I wouldn't really risk that as much, but it is a bit of a pain to film.
